Kerran sain aurinkotuolin maksutta.

  • Fuzzy warm feelings dissipate. Now the company has to get down to business and execute. The next 2-3 quarters are going to be critical to bedding down the changes the co-CEO’s have brought to the company. Prior to attending I asked SAP to surprise and delight me. They delivered. Now they need to do the same for their 90,000+ customers. Nothing else will satisfy.

Most of the keynote ’stuff’ was intentionally geared towards the Business Suite user. Given SAP now has four broad lines of business, it should devote at least some time to solutions that usually reach beyond the Global 2000.

  • Most people don’t realize that Google Reader can be used as an amazing SEO tool to monitor your industry, competitors, and their backlinks all for FREE. This can be accomplished with a variety of Google Alerts and Yahoo Pipes. The idea is to create insightful RSS feeds and aggregate them into one place, Google Reader.

Here are the main SEO resources we will be monitoring:

  • The map allows the user to view Flickr images for any location in the world. If you don't like the latest photographs for your location then you can use the time-line above the map to view Flickr photographs uploaded on different dates.
  • "LumoFlow™ is a productive collaboration environment for enterprises. Connect your business operations and get the projects done. Secure and reliable."
  • The Prediction API enables access to Google's machine learning algorithms to analyze your historic data and predict likely future outcomes. Upload your data to Google Storage for Developers, then use the Prediction API to make real-time decisions in your applications. The Prediction API implements supervised learning algorithms as a RESTful web service to let you leverage patterns in your data, providing more relevant information to your users. Run your predictions on Google's infrastructure and scale effortlessly as your data grows in size and complexity.
  • "Gee-map.com is a Dutch Google Map mashup that has a whole host of features.

To start with the map includes the locations of thousands of points of interest around the world. You can access these points of interest by selecting ‘Lokaties NL’ for Dutch points of interest, 'Lokaties Overig' to select points of interest for other countries or 'Special' to browse by category…."

  • Lion simply means: LinkedIn Open Networker. It’s basically a philosophy, that if you connect with me, I’ll connect with you and together we can help each other gain wider reach.

  • Enough talk about that, let us dive in and see how Doc Raptor works. The example here today is going to be in Ruby (because that is what I write most of the time now), but since Doc Raptor is just a RESTful webservice, you can easily make it work with the language of your choice. The high level overview is that you create html tables, send them as a POST request to Doc Raptor, and get back an Excel document. Below, you can see the Ruby code necessary for such a request:

  • "It's been 7 years since I wrote DHTML Lemmings™. In internet-terms that's a lifetime; back in those days Firefox didn't exist yet (Mozilla Phoenix was on version 0.8 or something and IE6 was the dominant browser), we didn't have HTML5 or javascript libraries and web standards was just a grassroots movement. It was hard to make dynamic cross-browser things back then, yet I managed to create something that still works in browsers today."

  • "In summary: remember that you simply cannot assume that everybody has support for JavaScript and Flash, that you have to think about what happens when support for either is missing, and that you need to consider how assistive technologies handle them. Also realise that you do not have to give users without JavaScript or Flash exactly the same experience, but you do need to give them something.

You do not, however, have to avoid JavaScript or Flash as long as you keep accessibility in mind."
